There are several reported cases of students who dropped out of school due to internet addiction. Some culprits are those so called Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, or known by some as MMORPG. One perfect example of this MMORPG is the popular game World of Warcraft. There are numerous players who become super powerful that they tend to leave their “true lives” alone. They become over depended on the game. Some groups of people try to address this issue by letting those “addicted” players go to rehabilitation especially made for gaming addicts.

Expert gamers, stereotypically, are those nerds who do not have friends or social lives. Yes, it is true for most. But other gaming people who appear happy may have a sad life. Some people who excel in online games, like The World of Warcraft, may have underlying causes of their excellence. They may be an outcast or does not have a dream that does not come true, so their resort id to compensate this on the gaming world – where they can rule over several people and the boss, fulfilling hidden desires like power (high level), riches (wealthy in the game world), glory, and so on.

Several Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, or simply called or known as MMORPG, had indeed established itself on the gaming scene. Several titles of this online games especially The World of Warcraft, had made life fun for several gamers. However, the pleasure that online games bring to gamers becomes gradually insatiable – causing them to further make their characters stronger, affecting their work, studies, and overall lifestyle. It is as seems that the online game has taken over their lives, causing them not to function as a fully functioning individual.
